5 Outdoor Wedding Venues We Love

The Pandemic, social distancing and the desire to keep our loved ones safe has led many couples to look for alternative options when considering their wedding plans. From micro weddings to outdoor venues, the possibilities abound for creativity. Outdoor venues have long created opportunities for beautiful visuals and inviting atmospheres for a memorable celebration. The Greater Philadelphia area offers a whole range of options for outdoor wedding venues. Here are just five of our favorites.

Terrain Garden Cafe

Terrain Garden Cafe, in Glen Mills, PA, is built on the site of a nursery and provides all of the charm of a rustic wedding venue. With indoor and outdoor options, the signature backdrop is that of nature, with beautiful flowers and lush plant life throughout all four seasons. The natural blooms and foliage of each of the four seasons and the farm-to-table menu, combine to immerse your guests in the joy and wholesomeness of the natural world at any time of year.

The capacity at Terrain is 110 guests. For the Ceremony, most brides are attracted to the Indian Temple. The mix of historic spaces such as the Mushroom House and modern structures with hand-crafted finishes, creates a unique charm that is hard to replicate and will enthrall your guests.

Recently, one of our most popular wedding and event bands, Blues Junior performed a micro wedding at Terrain in a 3-piece format (vocals / guitar, drums and bass). The performance space was moved outdoors under a canopy with gorgeous, rustic decorations. The Forte family were seated in a U-shape arrangement and there wasn’t a bad seat in the house. Terrain did an excellent job of keeping social distancing practices in place and made the guests, staff, band and production team feel comfortable with a limited 50-person guest list.

Grounds for Sculpture

For lovers of art and nature, Grounds for Sculpture presents the perfect meeting of the aesthetic and natural world. Located in Hamilton Township, New Jersey (close to Princeton), this truly unique venue is home to over 270 contemporary sculptures on 42 acres of beautifully manicured landscape. Your hosts, Constellation Culinary, offer exceptional and versatile menu options to compliment the magical experience the location provides.

The phenomenal combination of contemporary art and a stunning natural setting offers a variety of locations for your Ceremony, Cocktail Hour and Reception. The capacity at Grounds for Sculpture is up to 350 guests. The venue is equally suited to smaller or larger weddings and can accommodate more formal or non-traditional clients.

The Inn at Grace Winery

From the Georgian Manor, to the exposed wooden beams of the beautifully renovated 1750s barn to the stone altar, Grace Winery beckons bridal parties for a celebration endowed with charm. Grace Winery can host up to 140 guests. An outdoor wooded amphitheater is the perfect location for the Ceremony. The enchanted wooded area, lush lawns and picturesque vineyards set the scene equally for those who prefer a formal celebration or choose a more casual approach. The Georgian Manor and exquisite cottages provide overnight accommodations for the wedding party and guests.

For pet lovers, your special friend is welcome here. For the Bridal party, the added advantage of staying the whole weekend at the Inn makes for a calming and less stressful experience.

American Swedish Historical Museum

Situated in South Philadelphia and overlooking a lake with the city skyline on the horizon, the American Swedish Historical Museum is a lush and scenic outdoor wedding venue. The American Swedish Museum can accommodate up to 200 guests. An elegant patio tent, complete with lighting, fans and heaters, extends availability through the changing seasons. The added attraction of the Museum’s galleries and its expansive terrace will immerse guests in this unique and historical location.

In addition to beautiful vistas and delicious menus, the Museum is easily accessed from highways and public transport. The outdoor Gazebo is the perfect setting for the Ceremony and the buildings and grounds are a choice backdrop for spectacular wedding photography.

Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library

Delaware’s beautiful Brandywine Valley is just a short trip from Philadelphia and is the setting for the spectacular Winterthur Museum, Garden & Library. Originally the country estate of Henry Francis du Pont, the garden is a testament to his love of the tranquility and beauty of nature. The romantic landscapes and sculptured gardens of lush vegetation and flowers create a breathtaking backdrop for an elegant wedding.

With just under 1,000 acres of tended gardens, historic buildings and beautiful vistas, it’s the perfect setting for a sophisticated outdoor wedding and this wedding venue can accommodate up to 600 guests. Located close to both Philadelphia (PA) and Wilmington (DE), it is easily accessible to long distance travellers.
